Songcast Drops Price, Offers Better Deal for Indie Musicians
Songcast is a music distribution service that delivers your album to iTunes and other major online retailers. Their service is amazing letting the independent musician compete with major record labels to earn their fare share of royalties.
I currently am an artist signed with Songcast and when I signed up the price was $7.99 a month. I just received news from Artist Support that
“Hi Mario,
We have indeed lowered our fees to $5.99 per month!
Best,
Alex
SongCast“
This is a great deal considering you can upload an unlimited number of albums to your account. $5.99 a month opens the door up for all independent musicians and podcasters across the world. Submit your music and album artwork and connect with online retailers.
How important is placing your music with major online retailers? iTunes is currently the number one U.S music retailer with several stores setup for worldwide distribution which allows your music to find its way across the globe.
Distribution for your record label is getting cheaper by the minute. Sell an album or even a single and earn 100% royalties through Songcast.

Do NOT use Songcast! I am currently the 2nd most popular artist on Songcast (soon to be #1)… see for yourself on the “Artist Profiles” tab… I am telling you first hand that the owner of SongCast (Michael Wright) is robbing people. He takes money out of your royalties if you make alot and makes up false excuses to keep it. He created all types of lies and deceived me. Not only does he steal your money but he then refuses to even give you a statement, that way you’ll have no way of knowing exactly how much he took from you.
DO NOT JOIN SONGCAST!!!! Plus their is a service that can put your music on itunes for FREE called WaTunes.com
Sites like tunecore, ioda, songcast, orchard, 101distribution, charge you heavy fees…. but did you know they are actually putting your albums up for free themselves… but they charge YOU up front
I have also read several stories about TuneCore taking money out of people’s royalties illegally. I personally know someone who had his account canceled by TuneCore because he was preaching against TuneCore robbing people.
Join Watunes.com I am a member and it works, get on itunes for FREE!!!

Thanks for your comments Makell. Thanks for the insight. I am currently a Songcast customer and haven’t had any problems with their service so far. Its good to hear different sides to a company and inform the consumer.
My question with Watunes is that their business model is free and Im afraid if anything in the future causes Watunes to no longer exists because of monetization reasons, are the consumers left hanging if they tank?

Hey Mmendoza,
My name is Kevin Rivers, CEO of WaTunes. I’d be first to say that WaTunes isn’t going out of business anytime soon. Our monetization cost is SO low that it’s beyond belief. WaTunes overs its revolutionary free service which enables you to sell your music to iTunes, eMusic, and ShockHound.
If you want to take your music to the next level of online music distribution, we enable you to upgrade to WaTunes VIP where you can be able to sell your music to even more stores including Amazon, Rhapsody, Wal-Mart, and more for just $29.95 per year! There are so much you can do with WaTunes that the possibilities are endless. If you’d like to learn more about the company regarding press, 1-on-1 interview with me, etc. Feel free to contact our press at: press@watunes.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

Thanks Kevin for your reply. I would definitely like to ask you some questions regarding your service, sounds great. I’ve personally dealt with a couple of distribution companies and have a general feel for what to expect from a distribution service. Previous reviews online from other sites led me to my comments earlier, I would definitely like to hear a clear definition from you, the CEO.
I will contact you soon. Empowering all Indie Musicians
