Welcome to Hip Hop Distribution: Helping independent musicians sell their music online through free web tools, social networking and developing online marketing strategies

My name is Mario Mendoza (Lost Thought) and I am an independent musician and music marketing blogger. Through our online projects, Fried Roots and Hip Hop Distribution, our goal is to create a multimedia label in this digital world. Fried Roots: Where Independent Music Lives

In 2007, I partnered with Sundy Macalinao (Shifty J) on the creation of our own independent record label, Fried Roots. Our initial goals were to create sustainable incomes through multiple music revenue streams offered online. Whether we were selling digital albums or receiving advertising revenue, our mission is to turn our independent label into a strong business.

@FriedRoots we wanted to use our blogs as our online platform to expose our albums and our multiple talents and services such as

1. In House music production and custom recording
2. Content Creation
3. Search Engine Marketing for Musicians
4. Artists with Ghost Writing Talents

While strategizing on different marketing approaches, Hip Hop Distribution was created to journalize our mission from A to Z.

Why Hip Hop Distribution?

This site is dedicated to helping other independent musicians learn skills to successful online music marketing, share their own experiences and promote music through blogging.

I started in October 2007 mainly because I wanted to record what I was learning about promoting my music online. Once I had distribution, I wanted to create an active online marketing strategy for my record label. As the music industry is going through some fundamental changes and business models are being tested, it’s time for independent musicians to enter the arena and innovate.
