The one thing I have noticed is the more you share your opinion the better responses your blog gets. Since I am a Hip Hop Artist I wanted to develop a list of blogs that could aid my exposure but also help my blog visibility. The key to me is making the most of your time while you are online.
Networking is an amazing thing. As I try to establish My band’s website, Im trying to use some of the things that work for me on this blog, Hip Hop Distribution. The key for me was being active.
You will be surprised how much commenting you can get done in 15-30 minutes when you have time available. Little Effort = Big Long Term Effects.
Step 1: Create an initial list of 10 music blogs that interest you. I decided to start bookmarking sites that covered topics ranging from music production to indie music marketing.
Step 2: Start to read some articles and leave comments. Great way to be active and when you fill out the comment section you can leave your URL on many sites letting people who read it have the choice to visit your blog. I know this is simple, but the great advantage is establishing relationships in the long run.
Many bloggers are willing to help you out if you participate in their discussions. For example, one blog I enjoy reading and leaving comments on decided to return the favor. That author sent a twitter message to his 1000 followers about one of my articles. Free exposure for enjoying other people’s work and returning favors.
Step 3: I use Google Reader to manage all the sites I subscribe to. It allows me to scan several websites’ articles quicker and leave comments. Even if you just bookmark some sites in your toolbar, its fine. The key here is getting more free traffic to our work. The solution here is ACTION.
The thing I enjoy seeing also is when I do visit a site alot, I ask the question “what is it that makes me like this site?” Write down some ideas and keep that notepad handy. You might find some valuable tips while you are at it.
Through the 3 days we have done some keyword research, written some articles, submitted them to social bookmarking sites, and began participating in different music blogs by commenting. Use some time now to create some future article topics for the following week and keep working.
