Musicians Using Twitter: Maximize Your Album Promotion

I began using Twitter about 2 months ago. I was searching for a better way to market online and it was recommended by several pro blogging sites that its impact is priceless. Twitter can be the perfect complement to your social networking campaign.

Twitter is advertised as a messaging service for family, friends, co-workers and new contacts to communicate with one another through status updates. You create an account and basically just state what you are doing at that time. It posts your statement to all your friends following you. At first I didn’t really like the concept of basically updating moods or quick instant messaging but after using it, the service is valuable.

I began by doing a search for people with similar interests such as hip hop and music marketing and was surprised to find good contacts. The format is great because you can shoot ideas quickly with new contacts and expand your network.

The main thing I like is Twitter Bar. The last thing I wanted to do was add another social network to the huge list I have already. What Twitter Bar does is simplify its use and effectiveness. If you use Firefox or Flock browsers you can download this add on.

It allows you to post to Twitter from the address bar. Just type in your message right after the web address and click the icon and it will post your message and url link directly to Twitter. Very useful.

I currently am following 79 people and have 54 followers. Use Twitter Bar to display all of your profiles to your new friends. For example, I was updating my Myspace page and adding our new music.

After I finished I posted a message using Twitter Bar that said I added new music and displayed the link. My 54 followers now just saw this and if they are interested they click on the link and listen to new music. I use it to help gain visibility for our music pages and content. Don’t be spammy! Let your followers build up.

Twitter makes it really easy to coordinate with your band mates. The really cool aspect is the amount of people using Twitter on their cell phones. Great way to reach that mobile audience.

Please feel free to follow and drop me a message. Look forward to hearing your input.

Are there any quality brainfood sources on music biz you’d recommend? If you’ve already got a post up, ignore this and I’ll find it in a few minutes. I noticed you’ve got a big feed so I’d imagine you’ve found a lot of good sources I’m not aware of yet.

Thanks for running this site…hands on info is the most valuable stuff online, I could care less what an old “industry vet” has to bloviate about. Glad I found this spot.

Im also interested in some of your favorite sites that you feel are informative. Thanks for your input
